FAQs > Breathing, Relaxation & Meditation Classes

What equipment do I need to bring?

A yoga mat (unless provided at the venue) a blanket for relaxation, and a drink of water (can be warm) are recommended. You can also bring a cushion for support during relaxation.

What should I wear?

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing with layers for the cold and for relaxation, and non-slip socks if feet get cold. Avoid big meals before a class.

What should I expect in a Breathing, Relaxation and Meditation Class?

Just like in a standard Dru yoga class, this session will include a little bit of movement to start as a warm up to get the body ready and in an optimal state of energy so the breathing/ guided relaxation and meditation are more efficient and beneficial. The class will focus on breathing (Pranayama) and meditation and will include a specially nurturing relaxation session. It is building up to enabling attendees to have the basic knowledge to use all of the techniques included when they need them.

Is this class suitable for everyone?

As with a standard Dru yoga class, attendees are encouraged to listen to their own body. It is accessible to everyone and modifications are suggested throughout the class for people with varying levels of flexibility, fitness and different needs. This class however particularly focuses on breathing and meditation so participants with specific conditions such a breathing, cardiovascular or postural conditions will be encouraged, if in doubt, to use self-awareness and potentially check with their medical practitioner before attending.

What techniques are used to promote wellbeing?

Flowing movements with breathwork, relaxation and meditation.

What benefits does this class offer?

Attendees should feel relaxed and refreshed after a class. They may notice better sleep, digestion and breathing. The class will aim at empowering attendees to become aware of the power of their breath and learn breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques to call upon and use whenever they need them. These are very powerful tools and can be learned over the course of a few weeks.
