What equipment do I need to bring?
A yoga mat (unless provided at the venue) a blanket for relaxation, and a drink of water (can be warm) are recommended. You can also bring a cushion for support during relaxation.
What should I wear?
Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing with layers for the cold and for relaxation, and non-slip socks if feet get cold. Avoid big meals before a class.
What should I expect in a Yoga class for menopause?
Just like in a standard Dru yoga class, this session will include warmup, EBR sequence, posture work, breathing techniques, and a guided relaxation. There will be specially designed postures sequences and general nutrition and lifestyle tips, suggestions and references throughout the class to help with specific issues relating to menopause, and a discussion at the end to exchange extra tips and useful information about peri-menopause and menopause.
Is Yoga for menopause suitable for everyone?
As with a standard Dru yoga class, attendees are encouraged to listen to their own body. It is accessible to everyone and modifications are suggested throughout the class for people with varying levels of flexibility, fitness and different needs. This class however particularly focuses on peri-menopausal and menopausal issues and is therefore specifically designed for menopause relief and people likely to benefit from this.
What techniques are used to promote wellbeing?
Flowing movements with breathwork, stretching, relaxation and meditation. Nutritional and lifestyle advice.
What benefits does a Yoga for menopause class offer?
A relief from symptoms related to menopause and empowering techniques to deal with them and generally with this time of life. Also, as in a standard Dru yoga class, improved strength and flexibility, increased core stability, and a holistic approach to wellbeing. It is very much a therapeutic, nurturing and restorative form of yoga.
